This is the name given by the living folk of the valley to the territories now claimed and defended by hordes of undead. There is some speculation that it may, in fact, be an undead kingdom. Most who have taken time to delve into the known facts, however, attest that it is probably a mass of unconnected undead rulers holding on to their former domains of influence.
Though undead do occasionally wander into civilized lands from within the Wightlands, they are usually understood to be those unwise enough to enter those lands more recently and die at the hands of the land’s defenders.
Update: There are now known to be at least three “kingdoms” in the Wightlands, their relationships to one another are yet unknown:
- The Wight Kingdom a.k.a. The White Kingdom – Eronald the Undying claims to be the ruler.
- The Domain of the dracolich Longtooth – currently including Shadowhold, Redhill, and much of the surrounding areas.
- The Bone Tower of The Virulent Pestilence – A massive tower of bone that has arisen north of the White River deep in the Whitelands. The Virulent Pestilence is understood to be a lich, and was apparently the mentor of the undead sorceress Necromantix.
